The next morning Dodge wakes up in the park with a note on his stomach
and a dog with a leash in front of him, the note reads, "Sorry." Dodge
names the dog Sorry, then goes home. He sees his neighbor outside his
window on the fire escape crying. He opens the window and they talk.
She introduces herself as Penny (played by Keira Knightley.) She falls
asleep for quite awhile because she suffers from Hypersomnia. When she
wakes up, Dodge walks her to her apartment where she tells him to wait
outside for a minute, checking to see if her ex-boyfriend is still
there. He isn't, and they go inside and talk for a while. Penny gives
Dodge a letter she received in the mail awhile back for him, but kept
forgetting to give it to him. It is from Olivia, his high school
sweetheart. In the letter, Olivia writes that he was the love of her
life. In the middle of the night a huge riot has broken out. Knowing
he's in danger, Dodge gets Penny and they leave in her Prius. Dodge
says that he knows someone that can get Penny to her family in London,
if she gets him to Olivia. She agrees and they set off.
